Daniel Auby nacque nel 1955 a Vallentuna, pochi chilometri a Nord di Stoccolma e si è prematuramente spento nel 2007 a soli 52 anni.
Aveva iniziato a giocare a bridge a 19 anni presso il circolo della sua città perché il figlio del proprietario era un suo caro amico.
Dopo aver studiato all'università del suo Paese storia e religione per qualche anno, Daniel si iscrisse a Legge e conseguita la laurea lavorò per un paio di anni come avvocato d'ufficio prima di dedicarsi allo sviluppo del software, attività che ha proseguito per oltre 20 anni.
Amante della musica classica e dei giochi in genere, Daniel ha colto alcune importanti affermazioni bridgistiche culminate con il bronzo nella Rosenblum Cup di Albuquerque nel 1994 che gli hanno valso il titolo di World International Master.
Come capitano non giocatore nel 1999 ha guidato la squadra svedese alla conquista della medaglia d'argento negli Europei di Malta.
Daniel è stato anche uno studioso di licita che ha creato un sistema a base naturale chiamato "Rather Natural" ed il sistema a base di fiori forte giocato a lungo da diversi componenti del team svedese.
Daniel started his international career in 1990,

Master
International.
For the past ten years he acted as NPC, coach, and slave to the Swedish national team.
Daniel introduced a number of previously unknown components to that captaincy - extensive system notes, bidding practice with monthly reports to the captain, and documented physical training. However, there was much more to Daniel than bridge.
He was keenly interested in other games and classical music.
He started out aiming for a career as a teacher, studying history and religion at university.
After a few years his father told him to go for a ‘real’ job, at which point he switched to law.
After the law degree and a two-year session in court, he switched to software development, where he spent the last 20 years.
Daniel was 52 years old when he passed away in his home, leaving behind one brother.
