David, Daniela & Alon  BIRMAN

David Birman è nato a Breslavia in Polonia il 9 febbraio del 1948, aveva una laurea in ingegneria industriale e viveva a Tel Aviv dove è stato un affermato dirigente di industria eccellendo nel marketing e nel management.

 Ha lavorato in posizioni direttive presso l'Autorità Portuale di Israele e presso l'Istituto di Ricerca e Pianificazione per i Trasporti maturando una riconosciuta leadership nella logistica dei trasporti.

 David è anche stato un affermato bridgista e un membro della Federazione Israeliana.

 Sposato con Daniela Birman che, nata il primo maggio del 1949, è anch'ella una forte bridgista che fa parte della rappresentativa nazionale femminile israeliana e che ha vinto il bronzo agli Europei Femminili a Squadre del 1997 e nei Transnazionali Europei Femminili a Coppie del 2001.

 Daniela ha anche vinto i Campionati del MEC del 1991 e oggi è una World Women International Master.

 David e Daniela hanno avuto tre figli, due ragazze e un maschio: Alon Birman che oggi è un bridgista già affermato.

 Dopo essere arrivato secondo agli Europei Juniores del 1972, David ha rappresentato più volte il suo Paese conseguendo alcuni successi prestigiosi come le medaglie di bronzo nella Bermuda Bowl del 1985, quelle d'argento nel Campionato Europeo a Squadre del 1985 e nella Champion Cup del 2002. Ha vinto il Cavendish Teams nel 1991 ed inoltre è stato campione nazionale per almeno una decina di volte. Questi successi gli hanno valso il titolo di miglior giocatore israeliano e quello di World International Master.

 L'ultima sua impresa è la medaglia d'argento ai Campionati Europei a Coppie Open di Mentone 2003.

 Ha anche allenato la squadra femminili e quella juniores del suo Paese. In quest'ultima ha giocato spesso con successo il figlio Alon.

Infine, David è stato per molte volte membro del Comitato di Appello Europeo e a lungo l'editore dell' Israel's Bridge Magazine.

Editore, giocatore, coach, amministratore ed organizzatore, ha lasciato un gran vuoto nel bridge israeliano quando è scomparso il 26 ottobre del 2020.

 Alon Birman, che è nato a Tel Aviv il 4 settembre del 1986 e ha cominciato a giocare sotto la guida dei genitori quando aveva una quindicina di anni ed ha vinto una messe di medaglie nelle categorie giovanili, spesso avendo come coach David.

 Medaglia d'oro ai Mondiali Giovanili a Squadre del 2006 dopo aver guadagnato l'argento nell'edizione precedente del 2004, ha i vinto i Mondiali Juniores a Squadre nel 2010, ha guadagnato l'argento agli Europei Juniores del 2004 e del 2009 che ha poi vinto nel 2011.

 Passato nella categoria superiore ha vinto il World Transnational Open Teams del 2011 e i Giochi della Mente del 2014 oltre ad aver guadagnato il bronzo nei Transnazionali Europei a Squadre del 2013.

 Sul circuito nord americano ha vinto due volte il Mitchell nel 2014 e nel 2016, il Nail Life Master Pairs nel 2017 ed il Jacoby del 2023 oltre ad aver guadagnato un buon numero di secondi posti.

 Questi successi gli hanno valso il titolo di World Life Master.

  David Birman was born in Wroclaw, Poland on February 9, 1948, had a degree in industrial engineering and lived in Tel Aviv where he was an established industry executive excelling in marketing and management.

He has worked in executive positions at the Port Authority of Israel and at the Research and Planning Institute for Transport, gaining a recognized leadership in transport logistics.

David is also an affirmed bridge player and a member of the Israeli Federation. He is married to Daniela Birman who, born on May 1, 1949, is also a strong bridge player who is part of the Israeli national women's representative and who won the bronze at the European Women's Championships in 1997 Teams and in the 2001 European Transnationals Women Pairs.

Daniela also won the 1991 MEC Championships and today is a World Women International Master.

David and Daniela had three children, two girls and a boy, Alon Birman who is now an established bridge player.

After finishing second to the 1972 European Junior Championships, David has represented his country several times, winning some prestigious successes such as bronze medals in the 1985 Bermuda Bowl, the silver medals in the 1985 European Teams Championships and the 2002 Champion Cup.

He won the Cavendish Teams in 1991 and was also national champion for at least a dozen times. These successes have earned him the title of best Israeli player and that of World International Master.

His latest achievement is the silver medal at the Open Pairs European Championships in Mentone 2003.

He has also coached the women's and junior teams of his country. In the latter he often played his son Alon successfully.

Finally, David has been a member of the European Appeals Committee and has long been a publisher of Israel's Bridge Magazine.

Publisher, player, coach, administrator and organizer, left a great void in Israeli bridge when he passed away on October 26, 2020.

Alon Birman was born in Tel Aviv on September 4, 1986 and began playing under his parents' guidance when he was about fifteen.

Alon won a harvest of medals in the youth categories, often with David as coach.

He won gold medal at the 2006 World Youth Team Championships after earning the silver in the previous edition of 2004, won the Junior Team World Cup in 2010, won the silver at the European Juniors in 2004 and 2009 that has then won in 2011.

In the upper category he won the 2011 World Transnational Open Teams as well as winning the bronze in the European Team Transnationals of 2013.

On the North American circuit he won twice the Mitchell in 2014 and 2016, the Nail Life Master Pairs in 2017 and the Jacoby of 2023, besides having earned a good number of second places.

These successes have earned him the title of World Life Master.
