Anna  BOIVIN

 Anna Kapelus in Boivin, nacque da una famiglia di origine ucraina nel 1932 a Saint Claude nello stato del Manitoba e imparò l'inglese all'età di 7 anni quando per questo fu indirizzata ad una scuola locale.

 Poi, quando nel 1960 si trasferì a Montreal, imparò anche il francese ed è stata una delle migliori insegnati, direttrici e giocatrici canadesi.

 Sposata con due figlie, negli anni '80 vinse il Campionato canadese e fece parte più volte della Squadra femminile Nazionale e di quella Open che partecipò alla Rosenblum Cup del 1986.

 Nel 1999 si ritirò a Victoria dove gestì con grande successo il Circolo locale.

 È venuta a mancare nel 2007 mentre si trovava in visita preso degli amici a Winnipeg.

Anna Boivin was born Kapelus to Ukrainian parents in St. Claude MB. At age seven, she was sent school to learn English. She learned French after moving to Montreal in 1960.

She is a Canada's first female Grand Life Master and the member of the winning squad in the Canadian Women's Teams Championship in 1985. She and her teammates represented Canada in Rosenblum Cup (open team) at the World Bridge Championships the following year.

She also played for Canada in the Olympiad Teams.

Anna retired to Victoria BC in 1999 after living 39 years in Montreal. A tournament director and teacher, Boivin revived a claying game at the Victoria Bridge Center, building it from two three tables to a weekly game attracting up to 20 teams.

Anna died as the result of a fall while visiting friends in Winnipeg. She was 77.
