Pietro Cosentino è nato il 30 agosto del 1941 due anni dopo il fratello maggiore Domenico che nacque il primo marzo del 1939. Entrambi nacquero a Palermo dove tuttora vivono.
Pietro si è laureato in fisica presso l'Università di Palermo, dove ha poi insegnato come pure ha fatto presso l'Università britannica di Est Anglia a Norwich.
Pietro che è stato sposato e oggi è separato, ha avuto 4 figli.
Domenico, che si è anche lui laureato presso l'Università di Palermo, ha avuto un figlio.
Pietro conobbe il bridge causalmente dopo aver lavorato per tre giorni come preparatore di smazzate ai Campionati Europei del 1959 che si svolsero nella sua città. Stimolato da quella esperienza cominciò a giocare in coppia con il fratello Domenico l'anno successivo formando una coppia che a periodi alterni è stata di riferimento per il bridge siciliano.
Pietro per molti anni è a più riprese si è anche occupato di insegnamento del bridge.

Peter has a degree in physics from the University of Palermo, where he later taught as well as he did at the British University of East Anglia in Norwich.
Peter, who has been married and is now separated, had 4 children.
Dominic, who is himself a graduate of the University of Palermo, had a son.
Peter knew the bridge causally after working for three days as a bridge-boy at the European Championship 1959 that took place in his hometown. Inspired by that experience began to play with his brother Domenic the following year forming a couple to alternate periods was reference to the Sicilian bridge.
Peter has for many years repeatedly has also worked on the bridge teaching.
