Nick  NICKELL

 

 Frank T. "Nick" Nickell è nato a Raleigh nel North Carolina il 7 settembre del 1947 ma, da tempo si è stabilito a New York dove opera come specialista bancario di investimenti e come Presidente della Kelso & Co.

 Nick è lo sponsor ed il driver di una delle più forti squadre del mondo. 

 Ha rappresentato gli USA in molte competizioni internazionali ed è tra i primi 15  World Grand Master  nella speciale classifica dei migliori giocatori viventi edita dalla WBF.

 Con la sua formidabile squadra ha vinto 4 volte la Bermuda Bowl ed è arrivato in finale in 4 delle ultime 5 edizioni della competizione, guadagnando poi il bronzo nel 2022.

 Inoltre, ha vinto un gran numero di NABC tra i quali 9 Spingold, 8 Reisinger e 5 Vanderbilt.

 In coppia con il grande Hamman ha vinto il Cavendish ad inviti del 1998.

 Le attività professionali e la cura della famiglia non gli lasciano molto tempo per allenarsi de visu con il suo forte partner Ralph Katz, tuttavia essi riescono a mantenere intatto il loro affiatamento incontrandosi virtualmente via Internet.

 Nel 2005 ha ricevuto il Sidney H. Lazard Jr. Sportsmanship Award e nel 2008 è stato eletto nella Hall of Fame del bridge statunitense.

Infine, nel 2022 ha vinto la Rosenblum Cup.

Frank T. "Nick" Nickell was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 7, 1947 but has long since settled in New York where he works as an investment banking specialist and as President of Kelso & Co.

Nick is the sponsor and driver of one of the strongest teams in the world.

He has represented the USA in many international competitions and is among the top 15 World Grand Masters in the special ranking of the best living players published by the WBF.

With his formidable team he has won the Bermuda Bowl 4 times and reached the final in 4 of the last 5 editions of the competition, then earning the bronze in 2022.

Additionally, he has won a large number of NABCs including 9 Spingolds, 8 Reisingers and 5 Vanderbilts.

Paired with the great Hamman he won the 1998 Cavendish by invitation.

Professional activities and family care do not leave him much time to train face to face with his strong partner Ralph Katz, however they manage to keep their harmony intact by meeting virtually via the Internet.

In 2005 he received the Sidney H. Lazard Jr. Sportsmanship Award and in 2008 he was elected to the US Bridge Hall of Fame.

Finally in 2022 he won the Rosenblum Cup.
