Dick Walsh è nato nel 1936 a Van Nuys, poco lontano da Los Angeles, ed è stato un analista finanziario che ha avuto larga parte nel bridge della degli anni '60 e '70 della West Coast.
Ha vinto diversi titoli regionali e nazionali tra i quali ricordiamo la Vanderbilt del 1969 ed il Wernher ed il Mitchell del 1970. Ha poi fatto parte di una delle due Squadre USA che hanno disputato la Bermuda Bowl del 1971.
Teorico di fama internazionale ha ideato il Metodo Walsh che, rivoluzionario per il suo tempo, è ancor oggi usato in larga parte del globo.
Rhoda Walsh è nata il primo gennaio del 1933 nel New Jersey ma si è trasferita a Los Angeles quando era ancora bambina. Dopo essersi laureata in Teatro alla UCLA si è laureata in legge alla Loyola Law School.
Sposata due volte ha imparato il bridge per seguire il primo marito ma ben presto è divenuta una giocatrice di fama internazionale è una World Women Master che ha vinto una dozzina di NABC tra i quali ricordiamo i Whitehead del 1968 e 1972 e lo Sternberg del 1968.
World Women Master ha fatto parte più volte della nazionale femminile a stelle e strisce guadagnando il bronzo nelle Olimpiadi del 1968.
Dopo il secondo divorzio Rhoda è rimasta felicemente single ed ha contribuito con vari suoi scritti a rendere note le idee dichiarative dell'ex marito.
Per un certo periodo di tempo ha anche fondato un suo studio legale che aveva per clienti principalmente i suoi colleghi bridgisti.
