Véronique Favas Bessis è nata a Rouen il 6 ottobre del 1950, laureata in matematica ha fatto l'insegnante prima di dedicarsi a tempo pieno al Bridge agli inizi degli anni '80.
World Women Grand Master, ha occupato a lungo le prime posizioni della classifica mondiale.

A casa di Véronique si giocava da sempre un bridge salottiero che non risvegliava alcun interesse nella giovane che si avvicinò al gioco assai più tardi e solo quando ne conobbe gli aspetti agonistici.
Sua sorella Anne-Frédérique (foto a dx) che è nata l'11 dicembre del 1957 è un'ottima giocatrice di livello internazionale che ha sposato il campione francese Alain Lévy e che ha vinto l'argento ai Mondiali a Coppie Femminili del 2002 e all'Individuale Femminile per Master del 2008.

Véronique, oltre a giocarlo scrive ed insegna bridge in collaborazione con il marito Michel, con il quale ha anche vinto due Campionati Europei nel Misto e un Torneo di Misto a Biarritz nel 1994.
I coniugi Bessis hanno due figli:Thomas e Olivier che anche loro hanno cominciato a vincere medaglie a destra e a manca.
Ha iniziato a giocare sul serio assieme a Sylvie Willard ed ha vinto il suo primo titolo francese a Squadre Femminili nel 1977, titolo replicato negli anni seguenti almeno una dozzina di volte. Ha poi giocato per molti anni con la numero uno del bridge francese Catherine Saul d'Ovidio con la quale è stata vice campione del Mondo a Coppie nel 1994.
Véronique ha conquistato la medaglia di bronzo ai mondiali a squadre femminili nel 1985 e quella d'argento due anni più tardi ed inoltre si è aggiudicata la Mc Connell Cup ai mondiali di Montreal del 2002.
Su scala Europea, assieme ad altri piazzamenti, ha vinto il Campionato Europeo Femminile per ben 6 volte, 3 delle quali consecutive nel (1983, 85, 87), una quarta nel 1995 e l' ultima nel 2010, mentre nel 2009, ha preso il bronzo nei Campionati Europei Transnazionali a Coppie Femminili, stavolta in coppia con Liz Hugon. Nello stesso anno ha anche conquistando il bronzo nella Venice Cup che ha poi vinto nel 2011.
Ultimi successi il bronzo nei Campionati Europei Transnazionali a Coppie Femminili del 2013 e l'oro nel Coppie Femminile dei World Bridge Series.
Non ultimi, in quanto forse i più amati, sono i 4 titoli francesi a coppie miste vinti appaiata a Thomas.
