Hjordis "Disa" Eythorsdottir was born in 1965 in Reykjavik (Iceland) but moved to Chicago and now lives in Huntsville, Alabama and in New York, by the professional bridge.
She has learned play at age 10 from her father and in U.S. soil has won several national championships a few as a pair with husband Curtis Cheeck which is then divided. Among them, three times the Sternberg.
Her best sportive results are the bronze earned in the 1993 European Women Pairs Transnational, the silver in the 2002 McConnell Cup and in the 2012 IMSA World Women Teams and the gold in 2013 Venice Cup.
In 2017 she earned the bronze medal in the Elite Mind Games.
She is also famous for being the actress in the first event of refusal of drug testing in the history of the bridge.
