JoAnn Wellens Sprung è nata nel 1950 a Washington ed è stata una forte giocatrice che ha conosciuto il bridge durante gli anni del college e che ha vissuto prima a Philadelphia e poi a Las Vegas.
Laureatasi all'Università del Maryland, ha lavorato nel mondo della finanza ed è stata sposata con Ed Manfield da cui ha divorziato per poi sposare Danny Sprung, anche lui noto giocatore e insegnante di bridge.
Andata in in pensione anche lei è stata una rinomata insegnante.
Oltre ad aver vinto il Campionato Nazionale a Coppie Miste appaiata con il marito nel 1991, cosa di cui vanno entrambi molto fieri, JoAnn è stata una World Women Life Master che si poteva vantare di aver vinto assieme a 6 NABC, i Campionati Mondiali a Squadre Miste del 2010 e di aver guadagnato una medaglia d'argento nel 1994 e una di bronzo nel 1998 nella McConnell Cup.
JoAnn è scomparsa a causa di un cancro al pancreas il primo maggio del 2022.
Danny, che è originario di Teaneck nel New Jersey e che ha studiato al liceo locale, si è laureato all'Università della Pennsylvania ed ha imparato a giocare osservando i suoi genitori quando era ancora ragazzo.
World Master, ha colto il suo miglior risultato con il 5º posto al World Transnational Mixed Teams di Lille nel 2012.

was born in 1951 in Washington and was a strong player who knew bridge during her college
years and who lived first in Philadelphia and then in Las Vegas.
She graduated from the University of Maryland, she worked in the world of finance and was married to Ed Manfield from whom she divorced and then married Danny Sprung, also a well-known bridge player and teacher.
Retired, she too was a renowned teacher.
In addition to winning the National Mixed Pairs Championship paired with her husband in 1991, which they are both very proud of, JoAnn was a World Women Life Master who could boast of having won the World Team Championships together with 6 NABCs, Mixed in 2010 and having earned a silver medal in 1994 and a bronze medal in 1998 in the McConnell Cup.
JoAnn passed away from pancreatic cancer May 1, 2022.
Danny, who is originally from Teaneck, New Jersey and studied at the local high school, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and learned to play by observing his parents when he was still a boy.
World Master, he took his best result with 5th place at the World Transnational Mixed Teams in Lille in 2012.
