Nata nel 1937 a San Francisco, fresca di studi, Peggy Berry intraprese nel 1962 la sua carriera di hostess presso l'American Airlines per avere la possibilità di viaggiare gratis raggiungendo  tutte le località dove si svolgevano tornei di bridge. Peggy aveva completato la sua formazione prima presso la scuola superiore Lowell e poi presso l'Università Statale di San Francisco.

 Lasciato il lavoro nel 1998 si è trasferita a Dallas dove ha giocato regolarmente con Petra Hamman per 7 anni conseguendo lusinghieri successi. 

 In coppia con Shawn Quinn ha vinto, invece, le Olimpiadi Femminili a Squadre del 2000 ed è arrivata seconda in quelle Invernali dello stesso anno.

 Peggy, che è una World Life Master che è stata sposata con John Sutherlin, incontrato ad un torneo di bridge e anche lui valente bridgista, dedica il suo tempo libero alla genealogia divertendosi a scoprire le lontane origini di tutti i suoi amici.

 In coppia con il marito hanno vinto il Grand National Teams del 2006 e sono arrivati secondi al Mondiale a Coppie Miste del 1982.

Nel 2014 Peggy è entrata nella Hall of Fame americana guadagnando il premio Blackwood.

Dal canto suo, John C. Sutherlin che è nato il 7 novembre del 1936 a Mishawaka nell'Indiana, è stato un vice presidente bancario ed un World International Master e un Senior Life Master che ha vinto la prima Olimpiade Senior nel 2000, conquistato l'argento nel Campionato Mondiale a Squadre Seniores del 2006, il bronzo nella Rosenblum del 1990 e nelle Senior Bowl del 2003 e 2007, mentre, in campo nazionale ha vinto 13 NABC tra i quali ricordiamo il Mitchell Trophy nel 1983, il Jacoby nel 1990, la Spingold nel 1981, la Vanderbilt nel 1990 e 1993 ed il Grand National Teams del 2006.

John, che si era trasferito in California con la sua famiglia nel 1946 ed aveva frequentato la scuola superiore San Matteo prima di laurearsi all'Università della California, scomparve il 12 maggio del 2018 a Dallas a causa di un cancro che lo affliggeva da diversi anni.

Peggy, who is a World Life Master who was married to John Sutherlin, met at a bridge tournament and also a talented bridge player, dedicates her free time to genealogy while having fun discovering the distant origins of all her friends.

Paired with her husband, they won the 2006 Grand National Teams and finished second in the 1982 Mixed Pairs World Cup.

In 2014 Peggy entered the American Hall of Fame earning the Blackwood award.

For his part, John C.
