Steve Weinstein was born on August
17, 1964 in Laverock, Pennsylvania but lives in Up Saddle River, New
Jersey, not far from New York.
Steve, the youngest of 4 siblings, learned bridge from his parents and won his first Life Masters even before graduating high school.
After graduating, he left his job on Wall Street after the Twin Towers disaster and devoted himself to poker for the financial returns that the game ensures, he has won over $800,000 and is considered one of the best tutors/coaches that have ever been around.
Today he lives with his wife Liz Davis, whom he married in 1993 and with whom he lived for a period in Negril, Jamaica, where Steve was the CEO of a music recording company.
Steve was the first to win a national title at just 17 years old. In fact, in 1981 he won his first NABC and became the youngest player to have won one of these competitions.
The list of his victories includes about twenty NABCs including 2 Mitchells (1995, 2006), 3 Jacobys (1992, 2005 and 2006), a Wernher (1995), 4 Vanderbilts in 2009, 2011, 2014, 2017, the Reisingers in 1984 and 2021; always at international level he also won 7 Cavendish Pairs (1993, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2007, 2009 and 2010), and 3 Cavendish Teams (1999,2011, 2017).
World Grand Master and ACBL Player of the Year in 1995, Steve has benefited greatly from having teamed up with Bob Levin with whom, among other things, he won silver in 2006 and gold in 2010 in the World Open Pairs.
In the Europe-America challenge he collaborated in the victory of the Stars and Stripes Team in the 2006 and 2010 editions.
His latest international successes were in 2022 when he earned bronze in the Bermuda Bowl and won the Rosenblum Cup.
Steve has also been part of various institutions in the field of American bridge administration and in 2025 he was elected to the Hall of Fame..
