Bobby J. Levin was born in Southampton (Long Island - New York) on November 19, 1957 and is one of the best US players of all time.
His incredible bridging precocity manifested itself when at just 13 he won his first North American Championship playing in tandem with his teacher Abe Goldstein and was confirmed a little later, when at just 16 years old, after having recently moved with his family to Miami became the youngest World Life Master ever.
Bob, who now lives in Las Vegas and is married to champion Jill Levin with whom he often plays together and with whom he has three children, has had a somewhat eventful professional life. Bridge aside, he was a stockbroker in Chicago until the big crash of 1987, then moved to Orlando, Florida where he entered the real estate market by partnering with one of his brothers.
As a player Bob won the 1981 Bermuda Bowl reaching bronze in 2022 and winning dozens of major national tournaments including the 1988 Spingold, 7 Vanderbilt, (1980, 1989, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2017), two Reisingers (1979 and 2021), 3 Mitchell (87, 96 and 2006), two Jacobys (2005 and 2006) the 1993 Wernher, the 2015 Silodor and 4 Grand National Teams (1997, 1999, 2000 and 2024).
In 1999 Bob was particularly distinguished for having won both invitational events of the Cavendish (Couples and Teams) in the same edition, an event that then saw him winner also in the Teams of 2005, 2008, 2011 and in the Couples of 2002. of 2007, of 2009, of 2010.
In 2003 in Menton, Bob and Jill won the European Open Championships in the Mixed Teams category as a couple, then, at the 2006 World Championships in Verona, and again as a couple, they won silver in Mixed Pairs and Bob completed the he operates by repeating the medal also in the Open Pairs playing with Steve Weinstein.
In the Europe-America challenge he collaborated in the victory of the
Stars and Stripes team in the 2006 and 2010 editions.
But, Bob, who is now a World Grand Master, is also a specialist in pairs
competitions, together with Weinstein they won silver in the 2006 World
Cup and gold in the 2010 one.
In 2014, the only one to have exceeded 800 Platinum Points, he was elected "Player of the Year" and in 2018 he was admitted to the House of Fame of American bridge.
Finally in 2022 he won Rosenblum Cup and in 2024 the Olympiad Senior Team.
